I personally thought that this poet, Bao Phi did an excellent job reciting this poem and put alot of power into his words. I really enjoyed Bao Phi's performance. An aspect of this poem that jumped out at me was the speed in which it was spoken and the small details such as his accent and all the examples he was able to incorporate demonstrated to me that Bao was speaking from his heart and not just off a piece of paper. After the first time I listened to this poem I was shocked at how fast and articulate the poet was and I didn't get the whole message but after the second and third time it became clear to me that the poet is using stereotypes of Vietnamese people to show what he and his family have endured from others and how it has all shaped him to be what he is today, which I believe was the message of the poem. I think this piece of literature is a poem because of the rhymes the author included and the was the poem was broken down. The pauses also made this a poem becaue the author placed words and phrases of strong meaning at the end such as when he said "...the college degree, prodigy thug in me," and waited for the audience's acknowledgement. Lastly I believe this poem in a babble becuase it can be fully understood when listening to it and no visual input is needed to understand the deep meanings in this poem.
